Wow! Our current laundry rooms situation is beyond ridiculous. I appreciate the comments over the weekend of those who were going through hell in our laundry rooms. It appears that a significant number of washer and dryers are down in both of our laundry facilities. At the most recent Association Meeting we learned that Coin Mach has us in a contract bind and the board is researching if they should seek legal action against Coin Mach. In the last two months Coin Mach has come out to repair machines but where were they six months prior to that. One resident informed me that he sent our cries for help to the Better Business Bureau, and he will continue to pester Coin Mach for better service. Thank You we appreciate the time you put in but we need to do more. If you see a broken machine call it in, write down the machine number, date & time you called so that we can have record of it in the event that we go to court against this horrible company. I'll try to come up with a form for the blog where you can list broken machines but in the meanwhile just use the comment section under this post. We Need Everyones help to get a better company in here.

The four dryers in laundry room number 1 near the mailboxes are not working to an overlying elctrical problem in the community. I think something about that was said at the last meeting, but I do not recall what. I encourage all to call Charity at Beacon Property Management to get this resolved asap.
As far as the other machines Coinmach needs to be called, perhaps we can come up with a flyer to post in the laundry room that details when Coinmach was called for repairs for which machine. This would also help us track how long they take to come out and reair the machines.
Fliers are a good idea, I was also thinking of suppling the laundry rooms with signs to indicate broken machines. It's great that residents have been making their own signs but sometimes its after a couple people have already lost their money.
There appears to be a problem in the East laundry room where all of the machines are being monopolized by one or two people doing HUGE piles of laundry. I'm wondering if they are taking in other people's laundry for extra income. It's unbelievable how much they have to do. When I questioned them, they look at me confused and speak spanish and don't understand. We need to observe this problem and questions their intended usage. The machines are not for them to make extra money. It is for use by the homeowners. They need to take their business laundry service to the laundromat instead. Has anyone else experienced this problem on weekday mornings/afternoons?
If we have sufficient evidence of this I'm sure we can put a stop to it. Not only is it immoral its probably illegal.
I am a potential future tenant and after visiting Monterey Villas, the one issue I did have was that the laundry rooms and coin operated. I'm sure this has probably been mentioned, but is there any plan to possibly acquire washers and dryers that are operated by "Smart Cards"? Basically, plastic cards that have a chip in them. There could be a machine in an area that only tenants have access to, where the money could be loaded onto the card, then the cards could be used in the laundry rooms.
It would eliminate others from using the facility and reduce the risk of potentially being robbed...even if it's just for a few dollars in change.
Just a thought.
