What A Meeting

Wow! Tonight's meeting went great. We seemed to address a lot of issues, and there was a great amount of attendance, I'd say at least 25 residents. It's getting late so I'll have a full meeting recap posted sometime tomorrow.

Cyrus,

The website to get the form to request an informal reassessment of your property taxes is www.ocgov.com/assessor. All anyone has to do is follow the link identified as "request informal review". It will take you to the one page form. The form must be postmarked by March 30th.

As an fyi, the form asks for comp sales in the area, but you do not need to fill that out since the information is not readily available. I was told by the Assessors Office to put "Not available" and that they would pull it up on their own. They have the information, but we do not since the auction prices were not identified by the converter in the grant deeds.

This is an issue that has definitely been on my mind and I had been thinking about posting about. I spoke to the someone at the assessors office last month and she actually pulled up some numbers for me. The problem with having them pull the records out though is that I don't think they know whether the property is a studio, 1 bedroom, or 2 bedroom. I think they just have a parcel number and a selling cost. It seems to me like they should just reassess the entire community since none of us bought at prices that are below today's market value. I'm very curious to hear more about this. I had already filled out the assessment form but was hoping to get a discussion started.

SOME OF THE UNITS HERE IN MONTEREY VILLAS LOOKS AWKWARD....THEY PUT TOO MUCH STUFF IN THEIR PATIO AND AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED IT MAKES THE PLACE LOOK CHEAP. THIS IS NOT AN APARTMENT COMPLEX WHERE YOU USE YOUR PATIO AS YOUR STORAGE AREA. WHILE I WAS READING THE REST OF THE CONCERNS I CAME ACROSS AN ISSUE ABOUT PROHIBITING BARBEQUE GRILLS. ON THAT PART, I DISAGREE BECAUSE BBQ GRILLS ARE ALMOST A NECCESITY AND CANNOT BE CONSIDERED AS JUNK. BOXES, NON-PATIO FURNITURES AND DYING PLANTS MAKES OUR PLACE LOOK DIRTY.

The board has approached the BBQ's as a fire safety hazard.
